駐休士頓辦事處歡慶115年國慶..深化臺灣與美南友好交流...

駐休士頓台北經濟文化辦事處於10月7日在Omni Houston Hotel舉辦115年國慶酒會，現場美南地區政、商、學及僑界人士等300餘名賓客共襄盛舉，共同為中華民國國慶送上祝福。

蕭伊芳處長致詞時表示，本年適逢美國建國250週年及臺灣首次總統直選30週年。臺灣民主化一路獲得美國支持，而1979年《臺灣關係法》則為臺美長期夥伴關係奠定基礎，雙方關係建立在共享價值及彼此信任之上。

蕭處長進一步表示，在經濟上，臺美正攜手打造聯合艦隊，持續深化雙邊經貿、投資及供應鏈整合。今年雙方簽署「投資備忘錄」、「對等貿易協定」，以及「矽盛宣言暨臺美經濟安全合作聯合聲明」，進一步強化經濟安全之共生夥伴關係。2025年臺灣對中國投資降至整體對外投資3%，對美投資占比則突破40%；臺美雙邊貿易額已逾2,560億美元，臺灣躍升為美國第4大貿易夥伴。面對AI時代，全球逾90%最先進晶片在台灣製造，超過90% AI伺服器也由台灣廠商組裝生產，台灣已形成完整的AI硬體供應鏈與全球AI基礎建設的核心；未來結合臺灣的製造優勢與美國的創新及人才，共同打造半導體、AI、無人機等安全、具韌性之供應鏈，臺美科技合作不是「誰取代誰」，而是成就彼此並促進全球經濟。

蕭處長強調，全球約五分之一海運貿易每年通過臺灣海峽，臺海和平穩定攸關全球經濟繁榮；臺灣將持續捍衛民主、強化韌性，並與美國共同推動科技創新、建構韌性供應鏈及維護和平繁榮。

酒會上美南各界重要嘉賓雲集，包括休士頓市長 John Whitmire、路易斯安那州副州務卿Laura Seabaugh、密西西比州農業暨商務廳幕僚長 Brian Perry、奧克拉荷馬州州眾議員Daniel Pae等政界友人出席祝賀，聯邦參議員John Cornyn、Ted Cruz、聯邦眾議員Lizzie Fletcher亦派選區主任出席，表達對臺灣及臺美夥伴關係之支持。美南州政府及議會亦致贈賀函或賀狀表達祝賀，肯定臺灣與美南各州各領域合作。

本年會場設計以臺灣意象為核心，結合北101、城市天際線、高鐵、風力發電及晶片等元素，呈現臺灣兼具民主活力、科技發展與自然人文特色等多元面貌；並融入美南五州州旗及臺美交流意象，呼應臺灣與美南地區長期在經貿、科技及人文等領域之緊密合作。

駐處除放映2026雙十國慶影片「國家的相簿」，讓與會賓客更深入認識臺灣的民主與科技實力外，並為紀念臺灣首次總統直選30週年，特別製作印有「總統直選30週年」紀念Logo及台北101圖樣的客製化紀念餅乾，作為國慶伴手禮，與各界友人分享臺灣民主發展的重要里程碑。酒會在熱絡交流及歡慶氣氛中圓滿落幕。

 

TECO in Houston Celebrates the 115th National Day of the Republic of China (Taiwan) and Close Ties with Southern States

The Taipei Economic and Cultural Office (TECO) in Houston hosted a reception at the Omni Houston Hotel for the 115th National Day of the Republic of China (Taiwan) on October 7, 2026. More than 300 guests from political, business, academic, and overseas Taiwanese communities came together to celebrate Taiwan and Taiwan’s close ties with the Southern states of Arkansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, Mississippi, and Texas.

In her remarks, Director-General Yvonne Hsiao noted that this year marks both the 250th anniversary of American Independence and the 30th anniversary of Taiwan’s first direct presidential election. She highlighted the longstanding U.S. support for Taiwan’s democratic development, stating that the Taiwan Relations Act of 1979 laid the foundation for the enduring Taiwan-U.S. partnership, which is built on shared values and mutual trust.

Director-General Hsiao then turned to Taiwan-U.S. trade, mentioning that, on the economic front, Taiwan and the United States are working together to build a “joint fleet” by deepening bilateral trade, investment, and supply chain integration. This year, the two sides signed a Memorandum of Understanding on Investment, an Agreement on Reciprocal Trade, as well as the Pax Silica Declaration and a Joint Statement on Taiwan-U.S. Economic Security Cooperation to further strengthen their mutually beneficial economic security partnership.

In 2025, Taiwan’s investment in China fell to just 3% of its total outward investment, while the share of investment in the United States surpassed 40%. Bilateral trade has since exceeded $256 billion, making Taiwan the United States’ fourth-largest trading partner.

Taiwan is at the heart of the global AI hardware supply chain and AI infrastructure. More than 90% of the world’s most advanced semiconductors are manufactured in Taiwan, while Taiwanese companies produce and assemble over 90% of AI servers. Looking ahead, Taiwan’s manufacturing strengths, combined with U.S. innovation and talent, will enable both sides to build secure and resilient supply chains in semiconductors, AI, drones, and other critical technologies. Director-General Hsiao emphasized that Taiwan-U.S. technology cooperation is not about “replacing one another,” but about empowering each other and contributing to global economic prosperity.

Director-General Hsiao stated that approximately one-fifth of global maritime trade passes through the Taiwan Strait each year and spoke about the importance of peace and stability across the Strait to the world economy. She reaffirmed that Taiwan will continue to safeguard democracy, strengthen resilience, and work closely with the United States to advance technological innovation, build resilient supply chains, and promote peace and prosperity.

The reception brought together distinguished guests from across the Southern U.S., including Houston Mayor John Whitmire, Louisiana Deputy Secretary of State Laura Seabaugh, Mississippi Department of Agriculture and Commerce Chief of Staff Brian Perry, Oklahoma State Representative Daniel Pae. U.S. Senators John Cornyn and Ted Cruz, as well as U.S. Representative Lizzie Fletcher, were also represented at the reception by their respective district directors. To mark the occasion, state governments and legislatures in the region sent congratulatory letters and proclamations recognizing the 115th National Day of the Republic of China (Taiwan) and the importance of Taiwan as a vital partner.

The venue featured Taiwan-inspired elements, including Taipei 101, a city skyline, high-speed rail, wind energy, and semiconductors, paying homage Taiwan’s democracy, technological development, natural beauty, and cultural heritage. The flags of the five states within TECO Houston’s service area and visual elements representing Taiwan-U.S. exchanges were also incorporated into the venue design, reflecting the longstanding ties between Taiwan and the Southern United States.

The 2026 National Day video, “The Album of a Nation,” screened at the reception offered guests a closer look at Taiwan’s democratic achievements and technological strengths. The reception concluded amid a festive atmosphere, with guests being given specially designed cookies featuring a “30 Years of Direct Presidential Elections” commemorative logo and Taipei 101 as National Day gifts.
